{"id":764,"date":"2014-10-01T22:03:05","date_gmt":"2014-10-01T22:03:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/?p=764"},"modified":"2014-10-03T21:35:33","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T21:35:33","slug":"checks-if-gvm-performance-collection-job-is-running","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/?p=764","title":{"rendered":"Checks if GVM Performance collection job is running"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While upgrading to the Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c on a Linux virtual server, I encountered an error on the Database Connection Details screen.\u00a0 An error box popped up with the following information:<\/p>\n<pre>Prerequisite Name = Checks if GVM Performance collection job is running.\r\nPrerequisite Detailed Name = Checks if GVM Performance collection job is running.<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_01.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-765 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_01.jpg\" alt=\"GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_01\" width=\"819\" height=\"641\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the installation error log, I found the following error:<\/p>\n<pre>Prerequisite Status = fail\r\n\u00a0Prerequisite Recommendation = GVM Performance Metric collection job should be stopped and deleted before performing the upgrade.\r\n\u00a0Prerequisite Detailed Recommendation = Before upgrading the EM to 12c, GVM Performance Metric Collection job should be stopped and deleted.<\/pre>\n<p>The Oracle support web site suggested I verify that the job was running with the following query:<\/p>\n<pre>select * from mgmt_job where job_name = 'GVMPERFMETRICCOLL' \r\nand job_type = 'UpdateGVMPerfMetric';<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_02.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-766 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_02.jpg\" alt=\"GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_02\" width=\"906\" height=\"229\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_02.jpg 906w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_02-300x75.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_02-210x53.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 906px) 100vw, 906px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With this job running, I would not be able to continue with the installation.\u00a0 Below is the queries I used in SQL-Plus to stop the job.\u00a0 With some help from two different blogs, I was able to find the correct queries to resolve the issue:<\/p>\n<pre>select count(*) from mgmt_job \r\nwhere job_name = 'GVMPERFMETRICCOLL' \r\nand job_type = 'UpdateGVMPerfMetric';<\/pre>\n<pre>select job_id from mgmt_job \r\nwhere job_name = 'GVMPERFMETRICCOLL' \r\nand job_owner = 'SYSMAN';<\/pre>\n<pre>exec mgmt_job_engine.stop_all_executions_with_id(' &lt; JOB_ID &gt; ',TRUE);<\/pre>\n<pre>commit;<\/pre>\n<pre>select count(*) from mgmt_job \r\nwhere job_name = 'GVMPERFMETRICCOLL' \r\nand job_type = 'UpdateGVMPerfMetric';<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_03.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-767 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_03.jpg\" alt=\"GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_03\" width=\"1113\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_03.jpg 1113w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_03-300x202.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_03-1024x690.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/GVMPERFMETRICCOLL_03-210x141.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1113px) 100vw, 1113px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nWith this resolved, I was able to continue with my installation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thank you to Gavin Soorma and Vijay R.
