Connection or SQL sentence error: (DA0005) with SQL Server"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is an issue with an older version of Business Objects, version 6.5.\u00a0 In 2007, SAP purchased Business Object, and the current version is now called<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSAP Business Objects XI R3.1\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Again this is an issue with older software that I did not find a clear resolution for.\u00a0 From recently dated forums, this is problem is still happening.<\/p>\n<p>The symptom is that a SQL Server 2000 database was finally upgraded to SQL Server 2005.\u00a0 This is not my choice of an upgrade path, but certified by the vendor of the software we are using.<\/p>\n<p>When the user attempts to refresh their report, they would get the following error: \u201cConnection or SQL sentence error: (DA0005)\u201d :<\/p>\n<p class=\"size-full wp-image-178\" title=\"DA0005Error\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005Error.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-178\" title=\"DA0005 Error\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005Error.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"438\" height=\"93\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005Error.jpg 438w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005Error-300x63.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005Error-210x44.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 438px) 100vw, 438px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When clicking on the &#8220;Details&gt;&gt;&#8221; button, there error is something like \u201cnon-ANSI outer join operators (\u201c*=\u201d or \u201c=*\u201d)\u201d:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005ErrorExplained.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-179\" title=\"non-ANSI outer join operators \" src=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005ErrorExplained.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"436\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005ErrorExplained.jpg 436w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005ErrorExplained-300x168.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DA0005ErrorExplained-210x118.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 436px) 100vw, 436px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The resolution is the ANSI92 parameter in the universe file needs to be changed from &#8220;no&#8221; to &#8220;yes&#8221;.\u00a0 The following is the steps to accomplish this.<\/p>\n<p>First, close the report in business objects application after getting this error.\u00a0 The universe file is going to need to be corrected before the report will correctly refresh.<\/p>\n<p>Next, open the report&#8217;s universe file in the Business Objects designer.<\/p>\n<p>Then click on the FILE drop down menu, and click on the PARAMETERS app.\u00a0 Once the Universe Parameters app opens, click on the last tab called PARAMETER.\u00a0 Highlight the parameter ANSI92.\u00a0 The properties box below will be auto filled with the current information.\u00a0 Change the value from NO to YES.\u00a0 Then click the REPLACE button to update the parameter. \u00a0Then click the OK button to close the app.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/ANSI92resolved.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-181\" title=\"ANSI92 resolved\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/ANSI92resolved.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"529\" height=\"379\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/ANSI92resolved.jpg 529w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/ANSI92resolved-300x214.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/ANSI92resolved-210x150.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 529px) 100vw, 529px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now re-open your report.\u00a0 Your will see that it will refresh with out giving you an error, and you can move on to the next thing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is an issue with an older version of Business Objects, version 6.5.\u00a0 In 2007, SAP purchased Business Object, and the current version is now called \u201cSAP Business Objects XI &hellip;
