{"id":1291,"date":"2016-10-29T02:42:51","date_gmt":"2016-10-29T02:42:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/?p=1291"},"modified":"2016-10-29T14:19:35","modified_gmt":"2016-10-29T14:19:35","slug":"viewing-the-dbs-control-records-in-teradata","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/?p=1291","title":{"rendered":"Viewing the DBS Control Records in Teradata"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Problem:<\/h3>\n<p>I was asked about the &#8220;MaxLoadTasks&#8221; setting in Teradata.\u00a0 There are a couple of ways to view this information.\u00a0 In this case I am going to show the command-line option to use Teradata&#8217;s DBSControl Utility.<\/p>\n<p>Note: Using Teradata Express for this example.<\/p>\n<h3>Resolution:<\/h3>\n<p>From the command line, I entered the <strong>dbscontrol<\/strong> command to start the utility.<\/p>\n<p>Note: if the error<em> &#8220;-bash: dbscontrol: command not found&#8221;<\/em>, may need to add Teradata&#8217;s <em>bin<\/em> directory to the session path.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1293 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol.jpg\" alt=\"dbscontrol\" width=\"619\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol.jpg 619w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol-300x161.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol-210x113.jpg 210w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 619px) 100vw, 619px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once the DBSControl Utility opens, type the <strong>display<\/strong> command.\u00a0 This will display all of the DBS Control Records.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol_display.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1294 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol_display.jpg\" alt=\"dbscontrol display\" width=\"642\" height=\"383\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol_display.jpg 642w, http:\/\/www.theSQLReport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/dbscontrol_display-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To display only a subset of the records, type the group name after the display command which will show only that group, like <strong>display general<\/strong> or <strong>display storage<\/strong>.
